3 year old, female spayed Pit Bull Terrier with a 3 day history of progressive anorexia and 1 day history of hematuia. What do you think?

Ultrasound findings:

  1. Generalized hyperechoic bladder wall thickening (approximately 1 cm throughout entire bladder).
  2. The thickening is slight irregular in the deepest portion of the image with hypoechoic central position sorrounded by hyperechoic rim.
















Differentials

  1. Cystitis
  2. Transitional Cell Carcinoma
  3. Mural Hemorrhage

Testing Considerations

  1. UA
  2. Thoracic radiographs
  3. Coagulation panel (PE for signs of petechiae, etc.)

















Findings:
This dog was found to have very elevated clotting times consistent with Warfarin intoxication. The bladder wall thickening resolved at a rate of 1mm/day with Vitamin K therapy. A repeat US in 1 week was normal.
