Signalment:
8 year old, female spayed domestic medium haired cat.
Presented with ventral body wall mass in right ventral thorax
Ultrasound Image: US images of body wall mass and spleen (as part of abdominal scan)
Initial differentials?
Sonographic Findings:
Lenticular mass in body wall and hypoechoic nodule in spleen.
Diagnosis:
Mammary neoplasia and splenic metastasis
FNA: Mammary carcinoma in both organs
Splenic nodules are quite uncommon in cats (as opposed to dogs). Benign masses are very uncommon in cats and any nodule in a cat should be suspicious for neoplasia, especially when a primary mass is confirmed.
