Answer:

Ultrasonographic findings:
The spleen is enlarged, irregularly margined, and lacks Doppler blood flow.  The tail of the spleen is relatively hypoechoic, and has a “starry sky” appearance.

Ultrasonographic diagnosis:

1.  Splenic torsion. This was confirmed at surgery.
