Signalment:  11 y.o. lab-mix mn dog

History: straining to urinate, progressive for 4 days, now constantly. Large bladder on palpation

Long axis image caudal to bladder neck in region of prostate

Questions:
i. Differentials for lesion?
ii. Other imaging tests indicated?





















Answer:

Dystrophic mineralization and enlarged prostate: carcinoma
DDX: TCC or AdCA, atypical prostatitis
Testing: US of sublumbar region for adenopathy (see image below)

Enlarged bilateral medial iliac LN’s with atypical subcapsular vessels deviated hilus and asymmetrical vascular branching: DDX malignant adenopathy consistent with metastatic prostatic carcinoma

Consider fna of LN’s or prostate.
