Signalment:
6 year old male neutered Yorkie

Presented for 3 days duration of cough

Questions:

  1. What are your ultrasonographic findings?
  2. What are your differentials?

Ultrasound Findings:

  1. Anechoic effusion is present cranial to the diaphragm free in the pleural space.
  2. Anechoic effusion is present between the liver lobes.

Ultrasonographic Diagnosis:

  1. Bicavitary effusion.
    Differentials include cardiac disease, neoplasia, hypoproteinemia, bleeding disorder.
  2. The dog was diagnosed with biventricular heart failure following ultrasound.
