Each year the society organizes and hosts an annual conference to promote research in and provide education in veterinary ultrasonography. These events are attended by some of the top clinical sonographers from around the world.
Attendance at an IVUSS Annual Meeting provides the opportunity to meet other clinical sonographers in the veterinary field. The IVUSS meetings typically offer between 12 and 16 hours of veterinary ultrasound continuing education in lectures on echocardiography, abdominal, musculoskeletal or soft tissue scanning criteria. The lecturers are world renowned board certified specialists in radiology, cardiology and internal medicine, as well as clinical pathologists and interventional radiologists.
Veterinary Ultrasound Continuing Education
In addition there is a wet lab included where one-on-one training with these specialists is available for refining abdominal, cardiac, soft tissue and/or musculoskeletal imaging techniques. One of the best provisions of the annual meeting, however, is meeting & sharing meals and ideas with other mobile sonographers, finding mentors and cohorts in what can often feel like an isolated practice on the road. Attendees rate our conferences as a top-value in veterinary ultrasound continuing education opportunities.
In Manhattan in October, 2015 we discussed musculoskeletal ultrasound technique, interventional radiology in the urogenital tract, and cardiac imaging, surgery and treatment. In Salzburg, Austria in September, 2014 we covered cervical and cranial ultrasound techniques. In Vancouver, BC we discussed tissue sampling and cardiac case management.
Our next event will be held in Chicago, September 20st through the 24th.
